Please contact the Practice on 07 3726 1199 to arrange an appointment.  Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and General Practitioner.  Emergencies will always take priority and our Reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your usual General Practitioner has been called away. Standard consultation time is 10 minutes; longer consultation times are available so please ask Reception staff should you require extra time.

We usually allow for extra time for Procedures, Children’s Vaccines, Women’s Health Checks and Health Assessments.

If you or a family member require an Interpreter Service, we can arrange this on your behalf. Please advise when you make an appointment.

Home and Other Visits

Home visits are available for regular patients of this practice whose conditions prevents them from attending the surgery. Dr Michael Chen can provide afterhour home visit when required and the location and time are reasonable. Please ring us for details.


Telephone Access

General Practitioners and nurses in the practice may be contacted during normal Practice hours. If they are with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise you when it is likely that the General Practitioner or the nurse will return your call. Your call will always be put through to the General Practitioner in an emergency. You can also send us an e-mail however emails or phone calls cannot replace a consultation.

Skin cancer service:

Gowan Plaza Family Practice and Skin Cancer Surgery provides high quality skin cancer service, including regular skin check, cryotherapy, curettage, skin lesion biopsy, and excision. Skin flap and skin graft can be done for selected patients and locations if necessary. Skin shave or punch biopsy is still bulk billed with some doctor with conditions. Please contact our team for the details. 


Fees and billing arrangements:

We are a mixed billing general practice clinic.

For continuously providing high quality of care for our community, we will adjust our doctor consultation fee charge from 1st of Nov 2023:

1. For all valid Medicare holders, we will continue bulk billing if you are younger than 16 years old, or holding a valid concession card (Pension Card, Health Care Card, or Commonwealth Senior Card), AND also you must have currently registered “MyMedicare ” with our practice.
For all other patients, we will have a $30 gap on top of the Medicare rebate.
2. For all patients without Medicare, but have valid Australian private insurance, regardless what age, we will charge a $30 gap on top of the standard Medicare rebate rate.
3. For all patients without Medicare or Private insurance, please check the consultation fee charge with our receptionist.
Please note we will still bulk bill the consultations in some special circumstances, such as wound review/care after skin surgery, vaccination,
chronic disease care plan, health assessment, etc. as soon as the patients have no other additional issues need to consult doctors.

We also provide emergency medical services during our opening hours for the patients requiring immediate medical attention, no appointment required at this situation, but further $30 gap each consultation required for children, concession card holders, and seniors, and $50 gap required for the rest of patients group. The waiting time depends on the level of emergency.


Some other our services have private fee charges too, such as ECG, plaster, urinalysis, urine pregnancy test, blood sugar check, ear syringe, skin glue, and wound sutures, Implanon insertion/removal, etc. Please discuss with our practice nurse or receptionist regarding the details.

We not only provide free vaccines for the patients meet the National Immunisation Program criteria, but also store commonly used travel vaccines and other vaccines requiring private cost. Please contact our practice nurse for the details of price.


Getting the results of any test or procedure:

Your doctor will advise when they expect the results to arrive at the practice. The surgery will then contact you if your results require a follow up appointment. We advise you to make a follow up appointment to discuss your results. Please feel free to call the surgery if you have any questions.


Reminder System:

Our practice is committed to preventive care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system, please let us know.


Management of your Personal Health Information:

Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. If you want access to your personal health records, ask our receptionists for assistance.
