Appointments
Please contact the Practice on 07 3726 1199 to arrange an appointment. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and General Practitioner. Emergencies will always take priority and our Reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your usual General Practitioner has been called away. Standard consultation time is 10 minutes; longer consultation times are available so please ask Reception staff should you require extra time.
We usually allow for extra time for Procedures, Children’s Vaccines, Women’s Health Checks and Health Assessments.
If you or a family member require an Interpreter Service, we can arrange this on your behalf. Please advise when you make an appointment.

Home and Other Visits
Home visits are available for regular patients of this practice whose conditions prevents them from attending the surgery. Dr Michael Chen can provide afterhour home visit when required and the location and time are reasonable. Please ring us for details.
Telephone Access
General Practitioners and nurses in the practice may be contacted during normal Practice hours. If they are with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise you when it is likely that the General Practitioner or the nurse will return your call. Your call will always be put through to the General Practitioner in an emergency. You can also send us an e-mail however emails or phone calls cannot replace a consultation.

Skin cancer service:
Gowan Plaza Family Practice and Skin Cancer Surgery provides high quality skin cancer service, including regular skin check, cryotherapy, curettage, skin lesion biopsy, and excision. Skin flap and skin graft can be done for selected patients and locations if necessary. The skin cancer service is still fully bulk-billed this stage.
Fees and billing arrangements:
Gowan Plaza Family Practice and Skin Cancer Surgery is predominately a Bulk Billing Practice. However, gap fee probably is required by individual doctor. Some procedures or treatment may incur an out of pocket expense. The vaccines approved by Australia National immunization Program Schedule will be free for Medicare card holders, but rest of them will be fully private cost.
Getting the results of any test or procedure:
Your doctor will advise when they expect the results to arrive at the practice. The surgery will then contact you if your results require a follow up appointment. We advise you to make a follow up appointment to discuss your results. Please feel free to call the surgery if you have any questions.
Reminder System:
Our practice is committed to preventive care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system, please let us know.
Management of your Personal Health Information:
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. If you want access to your personal health records, ask our receptionists for assistance.
